Love is in the air! Check out our kidding schedule!!
The beauty and romance that is found here lies in everyday tasks. Spending time and connecting with each individual animal here is a beautiful thing. Watching the way they interact with us, others and each other leaves us mesmerized most days. Getting to know each individual, their personalities, their sounds, their likes and dislikes. Knowing I can be in my office in the house or anywhere on property and hear one of them neighing, braying, bleating, crowing and know exactly who that is without seeing them and knowing by the tone and pitch of the call what emotional state they are in is an amazing thing. Seeing the fruit in this trusting relationship come to pass every time we are on the road at a show. I am so incredibly blessed by this!
Each precious creature that has graced our farm has left a fingerprint on us. We remember them all. Babies that were born and raised here for a few months then sent off on their life adventure to the ones we have tearfully cradled when the hard decisions come and it's time to let them pass and all the ones in between.
The beauty of this place just isn't found in the animals and the relationships formed here it's everything else around us. The beautiful sunrises and sunsets we see every day, a heavy fog that may settle in the evening or early morning hours and all you see is the lights of the house and barn shining through, the flowers and trees full of leaves and colors that wrap around us, an occasional snow fall that covers the trees and ground with a beautiful white blanket. To me the most wonderful time is when the warm sun shines upon my face, wind swirling through my hair, the sound of leaves blowing in the wind all while I'm sitting on my porch swing. Moments like this time stops for me and my heart bursts with thankfulness. As the moon hangs in the night sky and we crawl into bed, we thank God for letting us do this farm life one more time.
Blue and Jingle are my extra set of eyes especially at night. These guys are remarkable with alerting when something is not quite right, a horse is loose, or a goat is in labor. There have only been a couple of times I can say they have brayed at night for no reason at least that I could see. Truly a huge asset to the farm!
We love our chickens big and small. I find them fascinating! A few of our hens are so bold, wasting no time in helping themselves in sharing a bowl of oats with our draft horse. The amazing thing the draft horse that is gigantic compared to them graciously lets them. This has been such an interesting journey watching these hens interact with our other animals and the relationships they have formed with them like the draft horse. It's truly inspiring!
Daily life here is always a blessings! It may not look like it at that moment but in the end it is. Every day is a new day that brings new opportunities to learn and grow. When you get to snuggle with babies goats, go for ride on the horses or just stop, look and listen to all of God's glory around you it makes everything worth it.
